It was because of her experience that she felt inclined to write Healing Health Anxiety, hoping that those who read it will find the tools they need to live a happy and fulfilling life. Abate received her BS in nursing from the University of Massachusetts in 1991. She now spends her time volunteering at a health clinic as well as a health educator and consultant. Her hobbies include dancing ballet and hiking with her husband and two Labrador retrievers. She lives in Santa Margarita, California.
